ABOUT

Hi, I am Mary Grace (“MG”), a Structural Heritage Engineer dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the world’s built heritage. My specialization is in the seismic vulnerability assessment and retrofit of historic and existing structures.I am a licensed Civil Engineer in the Philippines and hold master’s degrees in Structural Engineering: a Master of Science in Structural Engineering (MSCE) from the University of the Philippines Diliman, and an Advanced Master’s in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions (MSc SAHC) from the University of Minho, Portugal, and the University of Padova, Italy. In over 11 years of structural design practice, I have developed extensive experience in structural design and engineering design management. My technical work focuses on Computational Finite Element Modeling (CFEM) integrated with Performance-Based Analysis and Design (PBD) for new builds (water infrastructure & energy development) and seismic vulnerability assessment of existing and built heritage structures. I bring more than 9 years of design management experience, spearheading multidisciplinary teams in the delivering complex detailed engineering design projects. My consultancy practice is further complemented by university-level lecturing and undergraduate dissertation supervision in earthquake engineering and seismic vulnerability assessment.

I am a Structural Heritage Engineer Volunteer for:

  • ICOMOS - International Council on Monuments and Sites

  • ICORP - International Committee on Risk Preparedness

  • Bakas Pilipinas Inc. / Philippine Historic Preservation Society

I am an active member of:

  • IABSE - International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering

  • ASEP - Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines

  • PICE - Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers
