About

Hi there! My name is Mary Grace "MG" and I am a Heritage Structural Engineer specializing on the seismic vulnerability analysis and retrofit of historic structures, committed to the preservation and conservation of the world's built heritage.I am a licensed civil engineer in the Philippines holding two master’s degrees in Structural Engineering: a Master of Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman, and an Advanced Master’s in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions (MSc SAHC) from the University of Minho (Portugal) and the University of Padova (Italy). With over a decade of experience, I have built extensive experience in structural design and engineering design management. My technical background strongly focuses in the integration of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method and Performance-Based Design (PBD) for new builds (i.e. water infrastructure, energy development projects) and seismic vulnerability analysis of existing and built heritage structures.I bring over 9 years of design management proficiencies, spearheading teams for multidisciplinary detailed engineering design projects. My engineering consultancy experience is complemented by university-level lecturing and undergraduate dissertation supervision in earthquake engineering and seismic vulnerability assessment.

I am a Heritage Structural Engineer Volunteer for:

  • ICOMOS - International Council on Monuments and Sites

  • ICORP - International Committee on Risk Preparedness

  • Bakas Pilipinas Inc. / Philippine Historic Preservation Society

I am an active member of:

  • IABSE - International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering

  • ASEP - Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (Regular Member)

  • PICE - Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (Life Member)
